Can a Floor Last a Long Time?
How long does a floor last? This question is asked in almost every project, but the answer is not as simple as it seems. Because the same material can produce completely different results in different environments. In other words, the issue is not just the product — it is the entire system.
For example, a correctly applied Epoxy Floor can be used in a factory for years without any problems. But the same system, applied over a poorly prepared surface, can bubble up within a few months. At that point, it is the process, not the material, that is decisive.
A similar situation applies to Microcement and Micro Concrete applications. Their thin structure delivers a visually strong result, but they do not hide even the smallest flaw in the substrate. In other words, a proper substructure is essential for long service life.
Outdoors, a floor is constantly battling nature. Sun, rain, and temperature swings stress the surface over time. That is why flexible and durable systems such as Stone Carpet and Sandy Polyurethane are more advantageous in terms of longevity.
In industrial buildings, the floor is not only walked on — it also bears heavy loads. Forklift traffic, heavy machinery, and chemical contact continuously stress the surface. In such areas, Industrial Screed and Surface Hardener applications are the most important layers that determine the system's durability.
In decorative projects, long service life is about appearance as well as durability. In applications such as Aquacement and Cement Terrazzo, the surface is expected to look as good years later as it did on day one. This is achievable with proper application and regular maintenance.
Stamped Concrete and Colored Patterned Asphalt systems used in open areas can similarly last for many years when applied correctly. However, weather conditions and usage intensity directly affect this lifespan.
In conclusion, a long-lasting floor does not depend on a single correct choice. When the right product selection, proper application, and correct usage all come together, the floor will serve without problems for years. In any other scenario, even the best material will fail to deliver the expected performance.
